My Little League shining moment − 1 May, 1981
It was on or about this time that I played Little League when, in front of my father and tens of other parents, I made an unassisted double play at first base and hit a double knocking in two runners. Though we wound up losing the game, I felt like a major leaguer that day at the ripe old age of 11.
The great thing about that day was that we were playing in Unity Park in Trumbull, CT, the top little league park in the area. There were several fields in use througout the town, but this one was the best park. It came complete with an actual outfield fence, scoreboard, dugouts, concession stand and public address announcer! The teenager calling the game would actually announce your name as you came to bat!
Little did I know my baseball career would peak that day...;-).
