Ponies, Dinner, and a Ball Game  − 19 August, 2006 - 20 August, 2006

Heather and I headed down to San Diego to see Mr. and Mrs. Abbott. My car had been in the shop for the last 3 weeks and I didn't feel comfortable taking the Maxima since the temperature control only has two settings; Antarctica and Hell Fire.

So as usual we had great aspirations of getting up early and while she took Micaela to her P's, I would go and rent a care. The problem was that I needed to show proof of insurance and didn't have it with me. Needless to say, we didn't get up early enough and just ended up heading to my parents house to borrow the Escalade.

Once on the road we thought, let's hall ass and get to SD ASAP. Well, we got to talking, and if anyone knows me, they know that I will go on auto pilot if i'm in conversation. We missed the 15 intersection and went about 10 miles past it on the 210. We were able to get back on track and got to SD about 12:30 or so.

We met Kell and Steph at Emily and Kyle's place. I had never met them before, but they were very hospitable. Emily is a very funny girl. She kept doing impressions of people in different voices that sounded nothing like the other person. She is kind of a mix between Sherry O'Terry and Alyson Hannigan. Kyle played the straight man.

We headed of to Del Mar Race Track. There was nothing particularly exciting about the racing other than the fact that we didn't win anything. Kelly bought a huge phallic shaped bag of popcorn. We ate it all regardless.

We headed to dinner at Croce's. The food was fantastic and the company was even better. Potsie came out to meet us and we crammed into a corner of the upstairs seating area. Heather and I told Micaela stories at nauseam.

On Sunday we headed to Petco Park for the Padres/Diamondbacks game. We sat in section 110, row 27, seats 3-6. They were amazing seats and the Padres won in extra innings. Jackie and Eric were there as well in section 108. They brought Maddy and she was great at her first game.

Heather and I drove back late. We hit the pillow and were done.
