My First Rock Concert − 25 May, 1999
It was at Giants Stadium, Dave Matthews Band. I never was into concerts and I didn't think I needed to go to one because I hate crowds and I always heard that people were disappointed with live performances from rock bands.
We sat at the edge of the second tier on the north side. We had to look to our right to see the stage and it got pretty uncomfortable after awhile. There were alot of young kids smoking weed and wearing hemp bracelets and such. It was pretty funny watching the freaky girls dance with their hands in the air like they were in a stockade slowing gyrating to music that was about 2 beats faster than their dance.
Here's the setlist, thanks to antsmarching.org
Main
Warehouse
Don't Drink the Water
#41
Too Much
Rhyme and Reason
Dancing Nancies
Proudest Monkey (Tease) ...
Satellite
Lie In Our Graves
John the Revelator
Love of My Life
Stay
Crash Into Me
Two Step
Encore:
Long Black Veil
Tripping Billies
I'll never forget Warehouse. The boom of the downbeat and the flash of video all timed together was amazing. They sounded perfect, it was like sitting at home. If I closed my eyes, I could imagine sitting in my living room blaring the songs. Minus the kids around me singing.
I've since gone to two more Dave Matthews Band concerts and a few nightclub appearances of obscure bands.
