Building Another Dream House  − 25 May, 1991 - 12 October, 1991

My Dad and I had built one dreamhouse before in Hellam, Pa. In between then and now, we lived in a house that we rented from my dad's boss when we moved to the Poconos. My parent's, again, felt like their lives were stable enough to build another home.

They bought land near Bushkill, Pa. (still the Poconos) and again, dad and I cleared the lot of enough trees to excavate for the house. I hated the house at the time because it was so far from my friends. It takes about 45 minutes to get into town from their house.

This time around, Bob was only able to help a few weekends, he drove up from York to help my dad as we kept in touch with the Quinns after we moved away. My mom still drove up to the house to bring us lunch and she brought our Golden Retriever Duffy, who was a puppy at that time, to sniff around the new home.

I didn't help as much with this house as I was a teenager and had better things to do. Such a shame really, it could have been my last summer with my dad and I was busy hanging out with friends I haven't even seen since that summer. I don't mean to be morbid but I was joining the Army.

I do remember helping though and I was able to do more as a bigger helper this time. Things like holding up drywall were impossible for me at ten, but something my dad and I could do quickly by ourselves now. We moved in and in less than 3 weeks, I was off to Ft. Knox.
