I proposed to Marja this afternoon. We were down in the Arboretum, walking along the Huron River. The run-off from snow melts had swelled the water up the banks. I could hear the current in my head, and it drowned out everything else: thoughts, anxiety, the sound of my heart.
All I could think about was her. I thought about our life together. Scenes from the future flashed in my mind whenever I blinked. Oh the things I saw.
