Reflection − 29 September, 2006
Normally i read a few of the posting that are placed here, not many as i appreciate a photo or two to add to the realism of the story or just to make it come alive more. However as I sit here i think about what this site means to me and the importance that i place on it. With that said I want my dandelife page to reflect my life and how I played a role in it. I want it to be a place where my family can come to and remember the many happy moments we shared, but it should be something else. It should be a place where my kids can come to and know the thoughts that were in there fathers head.
Today i really reflected on my life and my career. I have spent over 21 years serving my country and it seems that my time is slowly winding down. Soon there will be new changes and i look to them with great fondness as well as with nervous anticipation. I seem to find myself with a bigger sense of urgency and I look to different ways of producing wealth. Not in the sense of getting rich but wealth in the sense of a satisfying life.
Lately I have sought different ideas and have decided to strike towards them in hopes of producing a new found happiness, essentially starting a business where I can be the boss. Why? Maybe because I've been a hardheaded military man set in my own ways and my expectations are high when it comes to those around me. I figure i would probably get fired because my expectation of people are to high and my methods of motivation would not be suitable in the civilian life. Funny I just have to laugh at myself when it comes to that statement, however true it may be.
I'm just glad that there are still peolpe out there that are willing to take individuals under there wing and teach them something new, which I am happy to be the recipient of such gracious behavior. Hence I look forward to a new future, however slow a start it may be. Mostly I look forward to continuing to take charge of the direction that it is heading in and realizing that there is one, direction that is. I guess this just adds to the point that there is life after the military and the posibilities are still endless as to what one can accomplish as long as you set some goals. Making a decision to strive for something instead of just hoping helps as well.
I hope each person that does read this has some goals in their lives that they hope to achieve. if not, then maybe we should be wondering if were just on the sidelies of life watching everyone else play. Everyone wants to leave a legacy behind, if this were not true we would not be posting on this site, so i know my statement is true. With that I hope every person especially my kids grab a hold of something and strive towards it. It's better to have made an attempt and fail then to never have made an attempt at all. it's in the failure that we learn.

Inspiring words, Hector. The destination you're talking about is something that the arrow of time tends to make all the more urgent. The arrow of time only goes one direction. What we decide to do along that arrow makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it?

Some people get it, some don't. It's obvious you do.
