World of Warcraft  − 23 November, 2004

World of Warcraft changed MMORPGs as we know it. Unlike in the past, where online games either focused on casual players or hardcore players, WoW has been able to attract both players with an easy to use combat system, and a very simple way for level your character up. Just kill monsters and do quests, and you will level--however, unlike in other online RPGs where you have to sit down a lot, WoW requires almost zero downtime.

Also, WoW has a PvP system very similar to DAoC, and it also introduced many raids that are casual friendly (such as Molten Core, and Black Wing Lair, which can be completed under 2 hours with a good group of 40 people).
