kindness  − 12 December, 2006

Today, I was getting off at the mall when a random lady on the street started yelling  "Miss! Miss!" I thought she meant me, so I turned, but because I had my bag and nothing seemed missing, I kept walking on my way. She ran and caught up with me at the mall entrance, quite out of breath, then she handed me my pedometer. It's a small contraption that I started to wear only today, that apparently, has a tendency to slip off when one is getting out of vehicles. I am very thankful to the lady who returned it. I will never know what she thought it was, these contraptions aren't very common around here. I am very humbled because of what she did for me today. In a big city, kindness is hard to come by. When people yell at you, it's easy to think they are trying to rob you, or in a better light, warning you of robbers, so you run away. Salamat po (Thank you) ma'am, for your kindness. It may be small, but it is very much appreciated.
