what will you answer to history?  − 6 September, 2005

It was raining, and we knew that it was going to be rather miserable, but none of my guys cared about that...

I was there, and I saw it, but it was them that I wanted to really live it. I'd had mine already.

First Cross Country meet ever for the guys at my college, and I was coaching.

"What will you say when people look back on you and the pictures?" I guess my inspiration was "dead poets society", though I wasn't  thinking that at the time.

I couldn't believe that they actually were getting into what I was saying, but they took off, they ran their hearts out, and they said that I had something to do with that.

It was funny, none of them were Cross Country runners, none of them ran in high school, and yet here they were running and nearly winning. It was like Rudy or something. Heh, we were even at a Catholic university.

We didn't win a meet that season, and I coached another year, then moved on, but I still have the mascot that we made, and I still talk to one of the guys. It was one of the best experiences that I have had coaching.
