My wedding Day − 2 February, 2000
Took me years to remember that date. I always got it confused with her birthday which was the 3rd... I still am not too sure.
Rolla Missouri. and Waynesville Missouri. I'm there for training as an MP Officer. She's been my gal for a little while now, and I know I want more than anything to have a wife so I asked her on Christmas. Drove to Cleveland to ask her mother and brother if I could, and oh by the way, Hi, my name is....
She flew in with wedding dress in her suit case. I had my service uniform on with the sword and all there at that gate. Sad that you just wouldn't be able to do that now...
I remember her smile seeing me there, the connection that we felt.
We went to the courthouse in Waynesville to get the marriage license, and they wouldn't perform the ceremony that day so we hot footed it over to the courthouse in Rolla. I was flying literally and figuratively, it was 3pm when we got the license, and we had a 45 minute drive. The courthouse in Rolla closed at 4.
she changed in the bathroom there at the courthouse.
God she was like Audrey Hepburn in that dress. White, simple satin with this flowey white scarf that she wore just so. I've never seen anything so beautiful in my life, nothing as she was that day.
there was a couple ahead of us, jeans and cammo uniform for them. Heh, I remember thinking how in appropriate that was..
I do. I do.
We went to the hotel room that my poker buddies got for us.
One of the few times that I really felt like someone cared for me then. Really cared. They got hat for us. It's one of the simplest acts of kindness that someone has done in my life.
We had a food fight later on that weekend, syrup, fruit, whipped cream all over the kitchen, and we were laughing like elementary school kids.
