Dugg − 8 January, 2007
When one of us wins, we all win. It's just a working theory of mine, and one that's pretty difficult to prove, I guess, at least in quantifiable metrics. But I want to believe that it's true.
So when the Care2 blog Frogloop posted a story about how a Care2 member, "Dave C", scooped the traditional media by breaking a story about how the Bush administration asserted the right to snoop in Americans' mail, I thought it should get more notice.
So I dugg it. And a few days later... boom! Digg homepage placement for the second time. The first time that one of my submissions got elevated to the digg homepage was less than a month ago.
I spoke with a contact at Care2 who said that they got thousands of visitors over just a few short hours. Still, the "Digg Effect" didn't crash their site, and now a whole bunch of people know about Care2 who might not have heard of it before.
So if I help to market this sort of Care2 success story, and if Care2 helps people support conservation, does that mean that my organization, The Nature Conservancy, gets closer to accomplishing its mission? I think so.
What do you think?
