Started graduate school − 1 August, 1998
I started the Library and Information Science program at the University of South Carolina. I thought I had waited too long to apply, and I wasn't sure about my GRE scores. I'm terrible in math, but apparently my check cleared, and my scores weren't that bad, so I got in!
I continued to work at the Richland County Public Library, and that was terrific because I could see in practice what I was learning in class. That wasn't always such a good thing because the more I learned, the more weaknesses I could see in the programs or services or staff development. Still, I wouldn't have traded my time there for anything.
