Moving − 24 June, 1991
I'm totally screwed.
I can't believe that we are moving. Julie just left me. I'm lost.
I'll go back.
Pack my backpack, and get on mom's bike. red 10 speed, Huffy.
the thought never crosses my mind that this is a bad idea, or that the bike wouldn't make the 40 mile trip "home" or what the hell I was going to do.
I'm scared shitless. I have to say that because that's just what it is. pedal, and the thing won't come out of there. There's this shack on the side of the road. It's got a bright light next to it and in some way it makes things even more eerie.
"Sisters of Charity" there's this major draw to go there as soon as I see the sign. It's almost as if there is something there for me. But I pass by.
I get "home" and fall asleep on a friend's driveway.
I can't sleep again. So I go out. Hitch a ride. I have no idea where I am going, but I think I have a plan.
Back to the driveway again. Knock on the door. Roy opens the door and says he found my pack and sleeping bag in the driveway. He gives me a bowl of cereal.
Later I am across town and Mom yells my name.
There's nothing like the sound of that voice to make me want to come to it. She's an angel, and I go home.
never did get to Julie's, and didn't try. Wonder what would have happened if I had....
