distance timeline 1996-2000 online university  − 1 January, 1995 - 31 December, 2000

This goes to the distance education timeline. The years 1996 to 2000 exhibited a dynamic increase in universities and colleges offering online degrees and classes. This included many of the more traditional universities who are best known of more standard educational delivery systems. This era also was the time frame when many educational organizations began to officially acknowledge distance learning. I have included a brief many timeline.

1995--Stanford University starts its Asynchronus Distance Education course program

1996-Duke University begins it's Global Executive M.B.A. program.

1997--John Hopkins University offers it's Business of Medicine course online.

1998--Regent University School of Law and the ABA offer an accredited program in taxation law.

1999--Touro University International receives Middle States Accreditation for an online Ph.D program, a Ph.d program in Business Administration.

1999--U.S. Department of Education creates a pilot program for distance education with 15 post-secondary schools.

2000- Concord University School of Law becomes the nation's first school to offer an online law degree.
