remembrance of nana...part 2  − 30 August, 2006

It's funny what you can remember. I remember the 8 pack of 16 oz pepsi's on the front landing, the Hershey assortment in the fridge, the coffee milk in the fridge, already sweetened. The food smell and her smell takes me right back that apartment. Actually living in that apartment with Jim for 3 years was surreal too. Her grip was strong, her forearms were really built for kneading dough.

What I can't remember is what I did yesterday, the name of someone I met an hour ago, what Jim told me 10 minutess ago. That scares me. It's early alzeheimers or just plain dementia. I have to stop reading all the irrelevant internet news and start doing crossword puzzles. They are supposed to help with memory. I at least have to try, right?

Anyway, those are good memories and she was the gramma I connected with the most.

I'm glad you had those memories too.
