remembrance of nana...part 4  − 13 January, 2006

You are soo funny. What are you doing at that website??? I actually found the whole ship name, etc. about 3 years ago. My grandfather's (nannu) name was Giovanni (John) and my Nana's name was Giovanna. Giovanni's brother's name was Sebastian, which is a frequently used family name (cousins nicknamed Sabby for short). Giovanni and his bro came over in 1918 or so and then had to go back to fight in WWI for Italy. My nannu was injured, left the army and met my nana's brother and married his sister, nana. They came over right after the wedding in 1920. There is a more specific record of that. I clicked on the info about when they came off the boat and were questioned by customs in Ellis Island. What they had in their pocket, who they knew, the ships name, how old it was.

I think I printed the page out and gave it to my dad. It was right after they first put up the website that I found it. The site was so busy and I finally got in around midnight and found the file about my grandparent. I cried when I found it, it was cool.
