Got Married  − 14 May, 2001

Today my life changed forever. I married the man I knew I was going to be with until my dying day...and everything was wonderful. I was disappointed, however, because James' family did not feel that our wedding was an event important enough to acknowledge. Nevertheless, we were married - on television, actually. Pastor Clark Ortiz squeeze us into a telethon he was having for the church. I was so nervous! James must have been very nervous, too, because no matter what we did, he kept moving with his back to the camera. Oh well, I should have known then that he never listens to anyone when his mind is focused on something else. The ultimate one-track mind. Regardless, I loved him then and I love him still. This is a day I will never forget.

We share an anniversary! How cool to have it televised! Talk about a professional camera man!

Even cooler... to be married by your mom! What a great way to get married! Was there a lot of "TV production", behind-the-scenes type stuff you guys had to do before going on-air?

It's kinda confusing - I was actually married on May 14th by my pastor (that was when we were on T.V.). My mom became an ordained minister two months later, so we decided to have our wedding celebration on December 19th (I always wanted a Winter wedding), and we had my mom performed the ceremony. The picture here is of that ceremony. We celebrate on December 19th every year because that was actually the day we felt as though we actually got married.

The T.V. thing was actually a fluke. We showed up to get married at the church with just a couple of our closest friends and waited as our pastor was finishing up a television program. He then asked if we would like to be married on television! Shocked, we said ok and went on-air after he announced to the viewers what he would be doing and we were on-air with no prep time at all! It was a bit nerve-wracking, though, so you can maybe see why we celebrate our anniversary in December. December was much more planned and a lot more intimate.

Haha!! What can I say? I wasn't exactly thinking clearly...and I trusted my pastor with my life.
