New Mouse in the House  − 8 February, 2007

We picked up our new little buddy tonight. G got him for me as an early Valentine's Day gift. He's a cute little black & white mouse that I'd seen last night when I took Justin to Noah's Ark for cat food. At a price of  $1.68, I figured the little guy was destined to be a snake's dinner  :o(

I told G about him, and then Justin emailed about it the next day. G called to make sure he was still there, and we went to pick him up after he was done with work. We even got him a habitat with fun tubes and hidey holes! I've always wanted one of those for my gerbils/hamsters.

He's very cute, and he seems to be pretty used to people (and cats). Sheba was pawing at the cage, but he didn't seem to mind for the most part. We can hold him, but he really likes to hide in my hair!

No name for sure yet, but we were thinking Pyg (Pidge). I like the name from Voltron (the kid who drove the green lion), and Geoff likes the reference to Ron Weasely's new owl, Pigwidgeon.

****UPDATE****

Our new little buddy's name is Dinky. He's so itty bitty!

I think you should have gone with the Voltron reference, but Dinky has its own charm, too :)

He's a goofy kind of mouse. He *never* runs...just sort of saunters around when we have him out and about. His personality seemed to fit best with the name Dinky (the inspiration coming from one of my other childhood cartoon favorites, "The Littles").

Then I suppose the little guy is aptly named, and also the cutest thing I've ever seen :)
