Moved to FL − 15 July, 1993
Sun and I took an opportunity to move from SLC to Tampa, FL to work for Tropical Sportswear International (TSI). I went there as a sales trainee, and eventually worked my way into the Sales Adminstrator position, and later became a VP of Sales & Marketing, covering the southeastern United States.
TSI manufactured branded and private label pants and shorts and worked with national retailers like Costco, Sam's, Federated, May Company, JC Penney, Nordstrom, and the like. This was a wonderful experience for a young person out of college. I learned many things from my colleagues in this organization, and still use many of those skills today. Somehow, I always seem to use those years ('93-'98) as a benchmark of excellence when evaluating the processes, procedures & talent of my current employer and co-workers. Very seldom does anyone ever cut the mustard.
