pasti italiani  − 20 February, 2007

I have been trying to balance my time between studying for my exam and visiting interesting places. It is not easy to do. It would be better if I were one or the other, but then I wouldn't exchange this life experience for anything.

Last week, my cousin's college friend Nancy arrived from China. She has traveled a lot so I think she could have done it on her own, still I was just too glad to leave my books for a couple of days to join her exploring of California.

In search of culture and diversity, we brought along Christina Henry de Tessan's "City Walks: San Francisco", a map of bus routes, coins for the bus, and set off on an urban adventure.

When we got off Bus 15, it was time for an early dinner. Thanks to Nancy's good call, we found ourselves at "The Stinking Rose", a restaurant-bar on Columbus Ave. in San Francisco's little Italy.

I had a tomato-based seafood tureen, while she had mussels. I learned that there is more to Italian food than pizza and pasta. There are other wonderful Italian meals to be enjoyed.
