One of the things that makes me happy when I wake up in the morning is seeing how many people have added stories to Dandelife while I've been sleeping. In the past, I haven't really paid much attention to that content because I don't speak Spanish, or French, or Italian, or Cantonese or Japanese or Portuguese or anything besides Swedish.
But I do speak Dandelese, and I can tell by the pictures and with the help of Google translation services that Dandelife is a nice little independent alternative even in those remote locales. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see stories written in foreign languages written here. I don't know. Maybe it's an ego trip. Maybe it's not even that. I'm flattered, yes. But I just have a real desire to see the world before it's all over for me. Knowing that the world is coming to my doorstep one story at a time, gives me hope that one day I will.

i've been thinking the same thing lately. i wish i was multi-linguistic because the dandelife is beginning to have a more international flavor. that's very cool. i wonder how everyone is discovering *dandelife*?

On a related note, Google often gives hilarious results when translating. Back when I started learning French, I didn't know how to say "banner ad" (I still don't). See, my LaRousse was written before banner ads existed. I put "I do not like this banner ad" through Google translation and got "Je n'aime pas cette bannière après Jésus Christ." After a brief moment of confusion, I realized, for some reason, it thought I meant "banner A.D." :D
