Match Box Cars  − 19 March, 1985

My sister sent me a birthday card this year with a matchbox car on the front and a memory that I vaguely remember, but she did quite well. This actually means a lot to me that she remembers this because to be quite honest she is one of the ones that took the most abuse from me when I was a drunk.

She told me about when we were kids and I would rumple up the sheets, make mountains, and roads, and we would drive matchbox cars through them.  I remember playing with certain cars that I would "paint" black with a magic marker. I think my fav was this metallic blue 1920's caddy with plastic fenders that were dark blue. It had these whitewall tires and everything.

I think this is actually really funny because I would do the same thing with my Uncle Johnny. We would play on the carpet in the basement at my grandmothers house. He always had to have the yellow mercedes benz convertable, but oh well. We even had little buildings that we played with. There was a ceramic house that Grandma had made that was all shades of brown.

I can say for sure that Cars were and are one of my favorite things.. The new ones are just a lot bigger.

I used to crumple up the sheets and do the same. It was always a sense of accomplishment to do the longest and highest 'jumps' with these imaginary hills. And of course, nothing was as fun as spectacular wrecks. Those involving firetrucks and ambulances were all the more entertaining. :-)

You know if you prop the car doors out, the cars will actually fly. It's like magic. :-)
