Kindness 4 − 23 March, 2007
"I save up every scrap
of light,
because I know that it will take
each tiny consolation
everyday
to mend the world."

-- Deborah Gordon Cooper
*This is from a poem called "Collecting Light" by Deborah Gordon Cooper. In the poem she describes commonplace scenarios that she remembers in her heart, to mend the world. For the entire poem, visit http://greggordon.org/cooper/cooperCollectingLight.htm
I was tickled pink when I came across her poem, in a book called "Comfort Prayers" compiled by June Cotner. Finally, it provides a kind of rationale for why I am the way I am when it comes to kindness, like why I try to remember all these commonplace scenarios, and feel happier in doing so.
