Another paperclip − 23 March, 2007
Dave came over to see me tonight.
At first it was going to happen and then it wasn't going to happen and then at the last moment it did happen. And I'm so glad that it did. :)
It's hard for us to be apart. People could look at us and say that we are just in the "honeymoon" phase of what we have but I don't know that that is the case.
He is completely my "significant other" and my "better half" but just as much as anything else - we are absolutely and positively each other's best friends. We are silly together and spend so much of our time laughing but also can segue right into looking into each other's eyes with no words to say to each other.
And tonight we even had an argument with each other. Well... maybe it was more of a difference of opinion but still - we definitely were at odds with each other. It was kind of about parenting and what kind of advice to offer in the way of parenting. But even with our completely opposite opinions, we still were find. And this is how we do it. We will be looking at each other from our respective sides but then come together and find that middle ground where we both "win."
We are very much in love with each other.
We very much love each other.
And we very much like each other.
I've heard before that loves that last are ones where you both love AND like the other individual. Definitely... those three things are very present and apparent with me and Dave and what we have.
I hope every last one of you can have what Dave and I have found for ourselves. I really do. Because, truly, it's something that any one of us really needs in life - no matter how much we do or don't realize it.

I had an idea! What if your invitations were clipped togeter with a decorative paperclip (instead of being held w/ a ribbon or something)! It would be significant to you! I had a friend that was very much into Disney and had hidden Mickey shaped heads on here cake! I bet paper clips would be darling! They are so special to you two! I am so happy for you!
