Geoff's Email from UW − 8 August, 2006
Today, Geoff got an email from the university saying that they had made a mistake; he had not actually graduated. He was 1 advanced credit short. Happy birthday Geoff.:o(
After giving it some thought, G thinks his advisor was looking at the B.A. requirements, rather than the B.S. requirements (the Bachelor of Science degree would have additional credits above and beyond the Bachelor of Arts). Apparently, both are listed side-by-side on the advising report. Sounds like a screwy system to me....I'll bet he's not the first student to get bit in the ass by that.
This was also due, in part, by the fact that he dropped a class in the spring. I guess that class had advanced credits, whereas the class he took to replace it did not. Or something. Quite frankly, this whole thing is rather confusing to me. I still don't understand how the university could allow him to walk and go through the entire graduation process (including filling-out an exit survey!).
G's going to contact his advisor to see what his options are for getting the advanced credit.
