The Art of the Game  − 27 September, 2006

Video games have it down. Easy to join but hard to master. And at each level you are given a challenge that is just a little bit beyond where you are right now (x+1). Each challenge provides well a challenge, a goal, and a feedback loop as to how well you did.

Based on if you are ready or not, you advance to the next level. If you are not ready there is no point in going on as it's well past where you are (x+3) and will only make you more confused and disappointed. Instead you have the chance to either try the same challenge again or try another one of similar skill.

You see the long term goal, however have to focus on slaying the dragon right in front of you and take it step by step, no cheating (unless you have a code, aka born rich).

Each new level also provides some mysterious power that was otherwise totally unattainable. Making you always wonder and get excited about, "What's next..." Thus you play on.

And the best part of all, if you like sports you can play a sports related game, or if you like action you can do that.

Ahh if only education could be a video game. how much fun it would be.
