Spelling Bee Nightmares − 2 June, 2006
I remember when I was in Middle School and we had our class spelling bee. and if you won the class spelling bee, you got to go on to the school spelling bee and if you won that you went on to regionals and then nationals.
I was so pumped for the bee that I even practiced the night before. But out of the 171,476 words in the English language how it is that they are going to pick one of 20 words I studied on my list. Then I realized it was just a plot to get me to study more words...arrgh public school
My turn came and standing in front of the whole class in my hand me down clothes, the teacher called out my word. "Billboard"
"Billboard"..."B-I-L-L-B-O-R-D!"..."Billboard"
"I am sorry that is incorrect."
From that day on my dreams of being a great...good...decent speller faded quicker than Dukakis being president.
