In case this is new to you skype.com is a free VoIP which means "voice over IP" aka internet Telephone.

There are several of them out there, but this one is FREE. Yes I know FREE is good especially for students!

Try it out, download the software and you can call any of your friends, who have Skype, be it in New York or Tokyo. You can also call any normal phone or cell at only .02 cents per minute.
