Nora − 2 January, 2002
About a year after we got Neri, we decided she needed a companion.

As frequently happens with siblings, they are complete opposites:
When we first got Nora, the first thing she did was run away.
Note: if you ever get a Collie, their heads are slender enough to slip right out of a collar. You should always walk them on a harness.
Note 2: Neri can even get out of a harness. We call her "Hairy Houdini."
The point is, these dogs are very athletic and very smart. A little band of ripstop nylon isn't going to be much of an obstacle to them given time. You have to be careful to prevent them turning somersaults and spinning like mad when they get excited by something on a walk (say, an armadillo).
Many of our friends in Gainesville came to our aid the night Nora got lost: Ann Foster, Ken and Marion Dodd, Nikki Kernaghan, Leslie Straub. That was one of the worst experiences of my life. But today, she's back, she's safe, and she's a happy, healthy adult.

- Neri likes people; Nora is wary of strangers.
- Nora likes dogs; Neri is wary of other dogs.
- Neri is outgoing and playful; Nora is a gentle introvert.
