growing up.... grown up − 28 April, 2007
i met up with my friends, P, G and S, over the weekend. it has been quite awhile since we saw each other and spent some time to exchange stories about our lives. it was only then that i learned that S is leaving for abroad. she got a great job as an accountant in a country where gold is one of their source of income. how lucky!
our group consists of around 9 boys and 5 girls. we've been together for the longest time... say since we were in elementary (i'm 26 years old now). it's really been a long time. as time went by we have seen how each other bloomed to a person we are now. we've taken different paths, worked in different cities in our country, but every time we'd see each other it seems like yesterday we were just together. we practically grew up together.
most of our friends have left the country. they are now fulfilling their dreams in a place where they can earn more, just to be more blatant about it.
over the weekend P and I realized that we really had grown up. before we use to just stay at a hillside over looking the downtown and the sea and dreaming that someday we will be in Europe having wine somewhere in paris, enjoying the trip. but now, our concerns are basically how we will make our future happen, although this time its something more serious- something very tangible.
we realized that we are not getting any younger, life has to go on, and we need to be ready for it. i guess we really have grown up. to all my friends good luck... i hope that dream that we once said at the hillside will come true someday.

NP. it's the best "those were the good old days" movie every done. Kevin Costnar gets a credit even though he ended up on the cutting room floor. It's a classic with a killer soundtrack to boot. You'll love it.
