Beta feature: Jabber your stories to Dandelife − May, 2007

There's actually a way to create stories in Dandelife without having to come to the site. If you're in the habit of using Google Talk (aka GTalk) as your IM client (or if you have another Jabber client you prefer), then you can actually IM your stories to us. Here are the steps:

First, make sure you have your jabber/gtalk email address saved here in your settings. (Click on the top right link "Modify your account details" up there to the right to get to your setting pages).

Second, add dandelife.com@gmail.com to your buddy list in GTalk/Jabber.

Third, open up a chat session with dandelife.com@gmail.com and type a message. You'll quickly get a message back with the URL of your story where you can add more details if you want.

Easy!

If you type in the Month and Year - our Jabber bot will timestamp your message to that date. Currently only works for month/year combos. So you can start a message like this:

"may 2002 Mother's day weekend with the Cunninghams on Coronado Island" and the story will take the title "Mother's Day weekend with the Cunninghams on Coronado Island" and be date-stamped as May 2002. Neat!

There are a number of other hacks you can unplug by typing "HELP" to the Jabber bot. We hope you enjoy this feature. But remember, it's extremely beta, so it may fail on occasion to yield the desired results.
