I met Quynh  − 16 January, 2007

I got in the car, wearing my best suit, thinking my best James Bond.

I knew there was somewhere here that we could meet at, but no idea where.

Ok, so here we go. Van Ness. Ok, I've been here before. There has to be somewhere to park.

I find a place.

Walk over to Connecticut  ave.  She calls.  Actually she texts me. Where is the Starbucks? I tell her that we can meet somewhere. I don't know if there is a starbucks, but there is something in the area.

I'm walking to the Metro stop. I feel so nervous that I can't breahe quite right.

Then I see her.

Hood up on her jacket. I can still see it. Months later. She's looking down at her phone. It's making her face glow. She looks up.

Silence in my head. Nothing to say. I can't even hear Connecticut ave. I can't hear my breathing, I can't hear anything. Nothing is there. She knoocks me out of sych with the rest of the world for a minute. I get that rare chance to completely see someone and experience them. She smiles, then looks at me like I am somehow wrong. Then smiles again.

We go have something to eat, and I am honest. I don't have any money, just change that I collected from the car to get a cup of coffee. The place doesn't even sell coffee. So I leave with her in my memory, and confusion as to what the hell just happened.

I know I'm not ready, and I know she's probably not either. But that doesn't matter. I know something really Big is about to happen.
