The growth of blended learning  − 1 March, 2002

Graham B. Spanier, president of Penn State, is quoted in an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education calling the mix of online and classroom instruction “the single-greatest unrecognized trend in higher education today.” This growth of “hybrid” or “blended” learning coincides with growing enrollments and a shortage of classroom space at colleges and universities.
