My Connection to Swift Kick − 5 March, 2007
In 2003 a follow speaker, Troy Stende, referred me to a company called Quantum Learning Network, as a company that offers great speaker training and pays well. So I checked it out and the qualifications for employment were not easy:
Round One - Submit a video and essay. Then interview over the phone.
Round Two - Pay for your own flight to San Diego for a 3-day in person interview.
Round Three - Commit 3.5 months of your summer for training and work.
During the second round is where I met, Kevin Prentiss. We both passed all three rounds and ended up working together for 3 months at the Colorado program.
During the third round is where I met, Steve Arrowood. Steve was our trainer and was moving into the position of head of Supercamp at the time.
It was during the 3 months that Kevin and I worked together that we started crafting the idea of Dance Floor Theory. Kevin was playing with the idea before then and after many late night walks and talks, we built the script.
Kevin and I worked for QLN the next 3 years and got to travel all around the US and the world doing programs for junior high, high school and college students.
At the beginning of 2007, Steve told Kevin he was thinking about leaving QLN and starting his own thing. Kevin and I talked about the idea of having a third partner and couldn't pass up on the opportunity so we offered Steve an ownership position at Swift Kick as we knew he would be a great asset.
Steve officially joined Swift Kick at the beginning of March 2007 and the tri-fecta was complete.
We keep a running record of all things Swift Kick on our company blogs. Check them out when you have some time:

Hey, Tom. It's interesting hearing the origins of business successes. Very cool that you're telling that story here in line with your own. Good stuff.
