1998 - WebCT is Most Popular System − 1 January, 1998
By 1998, many course management systems and collaborative environments were being used at universities. Mallard, PlaceWare, POLIS, The Learning Manager (TLM), Toolbox II, TopClass, Virtual Classroom Interface (VCI), Web Course in a Box, WebCT, and Web Instructional Services headquarters (WISH) are names of a few significant systems. Although various course management systems were being used at universities, WebCT, with licenses at 500 institutions was the most popular system.
