We had a teriffic weekend, overall.
On Saturday evening we hosted Ted at the house to belatedly celebrate his birthday. We had a fantastic meal and then watched the so-so Happily N'ever After on DVD. It was trying very hard to Shrek-ify itself and committed the cardinal children's movie sin of including some hip-hop lingo into the mouths of its characters.
On Sunday morning we had a fantastic time attending a matinee screening of The Simpsons Movie. Ted met us at the theater and we all got absorbed into a long-form episode (essentially). What matters, though, is that it was really funny, had a great story, and left you humming the "Spider Pig" song all day. It was definitely a film that was self aware - 18 solid years of rocking irony will do that, I think.
In the afternoon, we headed down to Coni & Paul's to socialize. We chatted, chowed, and the ladies (and Paul) helped assemble some parrot headgear for Adam. He has a great summer program play that is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
All in all - a great weekend.
