Leaf-Claws − August, 1997
My favorite thing about the coming of autumn when I was younger was when tree behind my apartment began to lose its leaves. Amidst the growing pile at the base of the tree, I would hunt on my hands and knees for the best ones, and when I had enough I would take the brown curled shells and slip them over my fingers. For the next half hour I was unstoppable.
Inevitably I'd crush them in to powder, and for the rest of the day my hands would smell like the sweet smell of dead leaves.

Fantastic! I did something similar when I was little, but with devil's claws. My hands would be all scratched to hell (pardon the pun) by the end of the day.

I've never encountered those things before, but they look crazy.
