1883-1891 The Chautauqua School of Liberal Arts  − 15 September, 2007

The first officially recognized correspondence school, the Chautauqua College of Liberal Arts was recognized by the state of New York and granted the authority to confer degress on students who successfully completed their work through correspondence and summer programs.
