Why do people lie... − 14 October, 2007
None of us LIKE to lie.
We all hate telling lies, just to varying degrees.
Some of us absolutely abhor having to to tell even the whitest of lies.
While others of us hardly blanch at even the most serious of falsehoods.
But still we've all done it.
And always for the same reason.
It should hardly be a mystery.
Examine your Self as to the REAL reason for your own little white lies and you will understand the rational for the much larger un-truths of others.
IF there is a RIGHT answer...
We will always give it.
COUNT on it.
Always.
Liars never tell their lies in a self-contained vacuum.
Liars are only forced (some more easily than others) into lying through the interlocking mutual dance of communication.
Yes it really does take two to tango - or lie.
Yes it is possible even COMMON for someone to lie to themselves - but only in communication between themselves and their Self..
There id and ego if you will.
The person they are and the person they want to be..
Their private-self and their public-self etc.
If you want those near-and-dear to you to never lie to you then you must MAKE SURE in your own heart as well in all interactions with them that there are never any right answers. You must make it abundantly clear, time and again, that your feelings of love, time, attention, respect, loyalty, trust, sexual interest and spiritual admiration is ever-permanent and shared freely and completely unconditionally. In short, that there are never any right answers for you. That you are joyously blessed just to know them - the REAL them; regardless of whatever it is you might come to know in time.
This is, of course, impossible since we so often do NOT share our Selves unconditionally. Even if we honestly could be so god-like, as to truly feel this way about our loved ones AND be able to successfully, convincingly communicate this to them- we would still NOT be able to completely cancel out the plethora of mores issued forth by the undying clamoring of mother culture itself.
We always KNOW what the right answer is..
Society could not function without us always knowing.
It is the liars responsibility to not fear giving wrong answers.
It is your responsibility, as the soon-to-be-lie-to, to do your best to convince your dance partner they have nothing to fear because there ARE no wrong answers.
