The Day The World Stopped Turning  − 11 September, 2001

A school day - pre-school for my daughter, university classes for me.  The TV on in the background while I rushed to get us out the door.  Something happening, but nothing that caught my attention.  On the city bus to the pre-school, someone tells me one of the Towers has been blown up.  I have no idea what they are talking about.

I return home to grab my books before leaving for BSU, and the TV is still on.  I see images of a Tower slowly collapsing, and hear people screaming.

Over and over and over again.

Classes are canceled for the day, although pre-school remains in session.  I am alarmed by this, after all the indoctrination I received growing up in the military about what terrorists would consider to be strategic locations to seize.

Then the second Tower....

...over and over and over and over again... the screaming and the bodies falling and the excited newscaster voices... no matter what channel...

After three days, I finally turned the TV off.  It remained off for a month.  I didn't want my daughter growing up with these images burned into her head.
