grandma passed away − October, 2007
my grandma had never been herself since my grandpa died 8 years ago. she got sicker and sicker, and less able to live on her own. since she lived 320 miles away, that meant my mom and uncle were driving to michigan all the time to help her out.
she spent the last few months of her life and in and out of the nursing home and hospital. my mom was with her almost constantly. all she wanted was to be back in her home, and it was heartbreaking to hear my mom talk about it. i felt terrible that she was there by herself most of the time, seeing her mom so miserable.
she was my last remaining grandparent. i miss her a lot, but i'm very glad she no longer has to suffer. she's with my grandpa now.
