got an IUD − 18 July, 2007
once matt and i had been dating for a while, i decided it was finally time to take the big step: getting an IUD. i'd wanted one for a while, but finally had the insurance coverage to make it easy. i had sworn off the pill a few years ago, and i wasn't willing to mess with my hormones again.
the procedure hurt but wasn't terrible. it screwed up my periods for a while. i had bad cramps daily for a couple months. the first six months were kind of up-and-down, but that's exactly how the doctor said it would be. (there are more details here.)
it was a very good decision. we were tired of using condoms every day, and i was really tired of being paranoid about pregnancy. i love it.
