went to my first breast cancer 3-day orientation  − 24 March, 2004

the first time i heard about the 3day was in a commercial on KDWB. the idea of walking 60 miles in 3 days seemed so challenging, i had to give it a try.

i read up on it, and learned that i had to raise $2,100 to be able to walk. that seemed almost impossible, but i felt like i could at leave give it a try.

i went to the orientation, and it was so NOT ME, i left convinced i wasn't going to sign up. everyone was so touchy/feely. there was hugging and crying. the idea of 60 miles, sharing a tent with a stranger, all that training and fundraising was way too much for me to handle.

i talked myself into signing up. it's probably the smartest thing i've ever done.

I trained with a friend of mine for the San Diego event. Next year I will sign up for sure. Have you been doing them ever since?

i walked in 2004, 2006, and 2007. my team is doing it again this year, too, but we're crewing this time! i'm really excited to be on the other side of things for once. i love the 3day.
