Leaving Lost Vagueness − 19 December, 2007
On December 19th, my subscription to DMusic expired. I did not renew.
It all started with a good deed.
See, I wanted to have copies of my third CD made. DMusic allegedly offered a cd pressing service. I tried to contact the "management" about it.
And from small seeds grow many weeds.
I found, much to my dismay, that the site is run with about the same care and attention as the former Soviet Union. In fact there was no cd pressing service to speak of, since the person in charge of it had left.
Yet even today, the page advertising the service is still there. Why? Oops, he was the site's coder as well. I guess that explains why the many of the pages haven't been updated in a while.
But it doesn't explain how the "management" can afford to completely disregard its members.
In an earlier article on Wordpress, I outlined some of my complaints about the site. Instead of just sitting idly by and watching the place go down the drain, I tried to make a difference.
It looks like the only thing holding the place together is the force of habit.
Ever imagine yelling "Fire!" and everyone just keeps sitting there, drinking their coffee and reading their newspaper?
The magic went away.
And now, so have I.
