Year 2007 in a flash  − 31 December, 2007 - 31 December, 2007

Everything that has a beginning, has an end. And at the end of everything, there's always a new beginning. And for everything that had happened, there's always a reason. I hope that whatever reason it is for you, it will propels you to move forward in the Year 2008.

For me, the Year 2007, all 8760 hours of it, have zoom past right before my eyes like a flash of light. That's how i feel when i read through my journals.... What i wrote in January feels as if I've only written them like weeks ago... But of course, that's only a wrong perception of time. It's like you wouldn't realize how fast you are traveling through space when you are actually in it...
(FYI, we travel through space at ard 833 miles/sec. That includes the Earth traveling ard the Sun, and the Sun traveling through the Milky Way, and the Milky Way traveling through the Universe. Learn something new for the last few hours of 2007 huh? :P Although i can't guarantee that's the correct version coz there's many different theories. But you get the idea.)

Ok, calling Ling back to Earth.

One of the key highlights of 2007 has to be getting my photo (full page) published overseas in the September issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine.http://www.flickr.com/photos/cslingphoto/420843534/ It's a dream come true for me to go international. Although, i haven't been able to invest the time and energy for the past half a year to my photography.

In May 2007, I've joined Techsailor Group as the Creative. It amazes me to see the company grow so fast in just 6 months. We now have a Singapore and Guangzhou office. And just this mid December, we went for company retreat in GZ and Hong Kong and had a blast. I'm blessed to have known everyone, esp those in the Singapore office. Despite been hella busy day in and out, it's been great working with them and we've had a lot of fun with our stupid jokes and tactics to poke fun at each other :P

As for photography, it will always be there with me until the day i die. At one point i was afraid that i might loose the passion for it as i went on months without taking my camera out into the wilderness due to busy work schedules. It was to the point that i even forgot where i have placed my camera batteries charger! I felt so ashamed to even admit it to myself that i have decided to let go photography for the time being to concentrate on my other business. You win some, you loose some. But just as long as long as i keep the passion burning, it will find it's way in the light.

As for traveling, hasn't been as much as i wanted to. Fraser's Hill, Msia in March and Sabah, Borneo in July. My tripod ( which cost me more than 1k), fell off the boat and into the Kinabatangan River. The currents that day was too strong and the river was too deep. Shed a few tears and let go and continued the rest of my journey with just my camera and lens.

As for my life list (http://cslingphotography.com/blog/life-lessons/my-life-list), a list of goals i want to accomplished in this lifetime. Only managed to tick off two more this year.
- Own two or more companies
- Going back and visiting other parts of China.

Steadily reaching goals are:
- Photograph all the Kingfishers of the world ( added one more to the list and now holds 4 out of 90 species so far )
- Photograph 1000 different species of birds in the wild ( currently at 65 as of 31st Dec 2007. Added Common Kingfisher & Wood Sandpiper )

Wanted to check off "Photograph Fireflies at night along Kinabatangan River" in July but i failed terribly with my digital camera long exposure. Shall go back next time with a film camera instead!
Year 2008, i should be able to check off at least 4-5 from the list. With Japan trip coming up in Feb! I can't wait!

Oh, Year 2008 has just arrived. Here's wishing everyone a blessed and prosperous New Year! :)

I will never forget you Reuben. Your music will always live in our hearts. Rest in peace.
