My music is released under a Creative Commons license. In theory, anyone can remix, reuse, and share it -- as long as they honor the terms of the license (by-nc-sa).
But you know . . . I tend to like to build complex songs with a lot of layers and hidden features. That makes it sort of difficult for remix artists to work with the published music.
Until today.
Monday, I signed up at ccMixter. Today, I uploaded a few of the original, raw tracks from Werewolf (Song #8 on La vie sous la mer): two bass lines (fretless and slap), two Hammond organ parts, and one run on the Hammond pedals.
Odd. Now I don't know how to finish this story. As of right now, I have no idea whether they'll be totally ignored or viewed as the greatest thing since the invention of microwave popcorn. It would be cool if someone could build something amazing based on my work. But right now . . . I'm staring out over that deep dark ocean, wondering what's over the horizon.
Well, the only certain thing: not trying = failure. Better to find out first hand.
More later. Apparently.
