Kiddo  − 1 March, 2008

Hey Kiddo…
Have you fallen apart again?
It’s okay, Mommy’s here to save you.
These life lessons are long overdue.

Turn your dreams into nightmares
of paying bills and pursuing respect.
Tell a stranger your darkest secrets.
Don’t forget to be perfect.

Hey Kiddo…
Did your Mom get you down again?
Don’t fret; your father will guide you,
These life lessons are long overdue:

I’ll always give you money
And I’ll lend a silent ear.
Don’t ask for my opinion;
I’m too tainted by my fear.

Hey Kiddo…
Did you lose your mind again?
Shut up, let your sister quell you;
These life lessons are long overdue:

Hide your pain and it can’t find you.
Run away from family ties.
Embrace your weirdness but never tell
From where you got your guise.

Hey Kiddo…
Is your family lost again?
Don’t choke, let your conscience kill you;
These life lessons are long overdue:

It’s your job to feel their pain for them;
pretend it’s yours, not theirs.
Don’t let them know the bad they’ve done
and free them of their cares.

Hey Kiddo…
Let us teach you.

I've heard that dysfunctional families often pick one member to be "The Problem". Sounds like our little Kiddo...
