Stapling Zeus  − 5 April, 2008

So I don't have a real event to talk about, but what the heck. Things have been really great lately. It's kind of a wrap of everything that has been happening lately.

I've been talking a little of having a student teacher, and even though I am really not completely happy with what is happening, I have to say that my standards are just really high. I think that she will be successful, and that she does care about the kids. That's really all though. She has started to open her mind up to what she needs to do, and to guidance, so I guess that's all I can ask now.

Our wedding show will be on the Style Network on the 8th of April at 6am, and 10pm, so if you want to see it, well, it's on!!!

Amelia is kicking up a storm and Quynh is laughing and grunting at times too. It never dawned on me that not only does she kick at Quynh's outer belly, but also at her internal organs. So heh, that must be really a weird feeling. The other day Quynh said Amelia was sitting on her bladder. Ugh. That had to suck.

I have also been talking with a good friend of mine. He was my advisor and Student teacher director when I was at Seton Hill. He's a trusted guide, and gave me his approval on what I was passing on to my student teacher. That means a lot to me.

During class today we were talking about Greek gods, myths and how they are created. I told the kids to write their own. So I gave them an example. I want you to remember "Mr. Bill" from Saturday Night Live. Make a Zeus doll out of modeling clay, and then add in one stapler. See Hercules decided to staple Zeus to the earth while he was sleeping one day as an April Fools joke. Zeus woke up, and pulled away. That created all the mountains on the earth. Well, I had to give them a visual, so I used our video overhead projector, and I showed Zeus sleeping, then used a stapler and smashed him with it, putting staples all over him. the kids laughed and we had fun. I think they got it. HA!!!!
