Psst... Want Some Dandelife? − 27 April, 2008
Today is the one-year anniversary of my first story on Dandelife.
One incredible year, strung out on reading and writing stories like some crack-head that stumbled upon a huge stash.
Yes, we all have Kelly Abbott and the entire Dandelife team to thank for adding to the pool of Internet Addicts. In fact, I dare say there is a subset of that: Dandelife Addict.
Seriously, though, I am eternally grateful to the Dandelife team for providing such a fantastic interface to my past. Writing down bits of memories, stories, and my travel journals is something I've wanted to do for a long time but haven't had a good way to do it.
The bonus is reading the stories posted by everyone else. Funny, sad, entertaining, and thought-provoking, they cover the range of human emotion and experience. Even more, they awaken my own long-forgotten memories. Memories that I quickly jot down for future posts to Dandelife... It is a vicious, addictive cycle.
You'll have to excuse me now. I'm getting the shakes and need to get my fix of reading Dandelife stories.
Oh, yeah... that's the stuff.

Amen. FaceBook was the gateway drug, but Dandelife is the hard stuff. As a fellow addict, I have no desire to enter any 12-step program for this addiction. Dandelife can help me compensate for my lousy memory. The stories I write from long-ago memories have shown me the importance of writing about today, while the memories are still fresh. The only frustrating thing is that I feel the desire to reach out and touch others, but all I have is the words I can type into their Comments sections. I have to hope that it is enough.

Oh, PS, I've been trying to deal the hard stuff, but not necessarily Dandelife, because it's not the venue for everyone, but I've convinced my husband to put pen to paper and start a blog. He posted his first story on BlogSpot. I'm so pleased! I hear great stories from friends, and now I want to tell all of them to WRITE IT DOWN! Like the story my neighbor told me about living through the flight of whites from Detroit. Absolutely 100% fascinating! I'm hoping to convince him to write it down.

Your stories are among my favorites. I wonder if some day one of us is going to leap off the web page and into the world of print. [ . . . Or, what Egon Spengler said . . . . ]

I'd read Eddie's book, which I'm guessing will be titled "Intrepid Eddie: The Story of a Dandelife Junkie" or something of the sort. (Don't forget to autograph my copy.)

That's the beauty of Dandelife: everyone's story is right here to read at leisure. Besides, as Bruce pointed out (via Egon): Print is dead. Ha! However, if I were to place money on who is most likely to make the transition to print, I'd say Josh. Though, I can easily see a number of the people I regularly read here make that transition.

Hey, Eddie. It's I who am thankful. Has it been a year already? Time flies when you're looking back!

Hey Eddie -- I have a challenge for you: write more! Please!

Hey - I have a writing challenge. Write a story which contains the phrase "mental miasma" and the sentence "Anyone can have a Batmobile if they have enough money".

Throw in a four-letter word and some cleavage and it would be an article from Gizmodo.

What about strating an online Dandelife Addiction Anonymous group ?

Well, Pea Eye, you threw down the gauntlet. And I... well, I sort of looked at it... nudged it a bit with my foot. But, your writing challenge actually got me thinking about a story. So, behold!
