Australia Lost − 19 October, 1999

Well, the Australia thing may not happen. There is still a chance, but it sounds like someone more qualified than my wife has also applied for the position. Fuck. I guess we'll just wait and see what pans out.

Thinking it through logically (which is not always a good thing), it would be tough if we moved to Australia. More than likely, I would not be able to get a job during that time, so we'd have a pretty tight budget. Plus, it would then be much harder for me to get back into the job market after being unemployed for two years.

We'd also be away from family; so far away that any visit at all would be highly unlikely. Then there's the logistics of the move itself: pets, furniture, storage, doing something with our vehicles... I get a fucking headache just thinking about it.

Ideally, I would like to get out of the Air Force, find a good job, buy some mountain property, and start planning a house to build. But, I would also really like to live and travel overseas. Rock and a hard place.

Chances are the Air Force will decide for us, anyway.
